The newly renovated Pavlinski trg has always been a popular gathering place for citizens of the city of Senj of all generations which is connected to Potok Street and together they form the city promenade. Pavlinski trg is a position where the city opens towards the sea, located along the walls and the sea.
Pavlinski trg was renovated (2019-2020) and co-financed by the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union funds with the aim of contributing to the development of the tourism sector as well as improving the quality of life of the city's residents. The remediation of the square included the replacement of the existing dilapidated infrastructure, lighting fixtures, leveling the ground and paving with new stone slabs, planting new vegetation and leveling the appearance of the terraces of cafes.
There was the church and monastery of St. Nicholas in the past. In 2020, trial archeological excavations were carried out on Pavlinski Square in order to gather information about the church and archeological supervision investigated its original appearance from the 17th century.
Pavlinski trg is also a place where numerous events, cultural and artistic programs, fairs are held.
The city of Senj continues to renovate the old town, which has the status of a protected historical urban unit entered in the register of immovable cultural monuments of the Republic of Croatia, with Pavlinski trg being especially important because it is the center of public city life.
The square provides a view to the Coast of Dr. Franjo Tuđman, the sea and the islands of Krk, Prvić, Goli island, Rab.
