The Archdiocese of Split-Makarska, the city of Split and the parish of Uznesenje BDM celebrate the feast of their heavenly patron St. Domnius on May 7.This centuries-old traditional holiday is dedicated to St. Domnius, the Salonitan bishop, who lived during the time of Emperor Diocletian when he was executed.
St. Domnius is the most precious Split tradition, the concept of faith in the city that chose him as its patron saint and placed his bones in the cathedral, one of the oldest cathedrals in the world.

This year's event carries the motto 'There is no city without people', emphasizing what makes Split a city - its people, customs, spirit and energy. Over the course of 11 days, visitors can expect more than 170 events. The Sudamja program takes place at several locations throughout the city: from the Riva, Peristil, Pjaca, Prokurative, the Croatian National Theater, through Voćni trg, Stari plać and Đardin, to the Turkish Tower and Marjan. The festival is opened by Nina Badrić, and the Sudamja program is enriched by Petar Grašo, Doris Dragović, Parni Valjak, Grše, the Intrade klapa, Urban, children's klapa, TBF, DJs and other performers, as well as the Croatian diva Tereza Kesovija, whose farewell concert in Split is also taking place.
The most important sports event is the 24th International Rowing Regatta of St. Domnius which brings the cream of European rowing, and the central stage of one of the most famous manifestations of university sports in Europe will be Split's waterfront.

Every year, the best teams from Oxford and Cambridge replace the course on the Thames with the one in Spinut, giving Split an honor that no other city in the world has had. For years, the world's most popular rowers have been coming to Split to steal part of the English Boat Race tradition and at the same time create their own new tradition, another event that makes the city of Split recognizable on the world sports map. The international rowing regatta "St. Domnius" consists of the Student Regatta in Spinut and the Race of Legends on the Riva in Split.
The finale of the event carries strong symbolism – marking the 100th anniversary of the Queen of the Ball at Stari plac, which brought together thousands of citizens in 1926. This symbolically connects the city's rich past and contemporary identity, and Sudamja 2026 concludes in a spirit of togetherness, tradition, and pride.
Enjoy the charms of the city of Split, the festival and the rowing spectacle.
