Šibenik City Day

On September 29th, Šibenik celebrates its day, also the feast of St. Michael, the heavenly patron saint of Šibenik and its people. The city of Šibenik, in cooperation with cultural institutions, kindergartens and associations, has prepared a rich cultural and entertainment program with numerous events that will last several days.

The ancient city of Krešimir, Šibenik, throughout its long, turbulent past, from its earliest origins to the present day, has particularly venerated the heavenly archangel St. Michael. Believing in his help and strength, the people of Šibenik chose him as their patron saint and included his image, as a symbol of strength and victory, in the city's coat of arms and seal.

The ceremonial song represents the City of Šibenik and expresses its belonging to its homeland. The ceremonial song is used in a way that highlights the dignity and reputation of the City of Šibenik. The ceremonial song of the City of Šibenik is "Šibenik Ballad", with lyrics by Krsto Juras and music by Dušan Šarec.

On the feast of St. Michael, the Šibenik Folk Band will play a vigil through the streets of the city. A procession through the city and a solemn mass in honor of the patron saint of the city of Šibenik and the Šibenik Diocese will begin at 10 a.m. on the Republic of Croatia Square.

The Šibenik Fortress of Culture has also prepared a rich and diverse program that will take place on Sunday, September 28th, and Monday, September 29th.
