The island of Murter is the largest and the mainland nearest island in Šibenik area, separated from the mainland by the narrow Murter channel, through which a 12 m long mobile bridge was built in Tisno. The mobile bridge was built in the 19th century and since then the island of Murter is actually connected to the mainland. Located at the gateway to the Kornati Islands, Murter is an attractive point for sailors, but also for all those who love quiet vacations.
Murter is an island with numerous sandy beaches and a large number of interesting destinations in its neighborhood (national parks: Kornati, Paklenica and Krka, nature parks Telašćica and Vransko jezero, towns Zadar, Šibenik and Split).
