The view from the lookout extends all the way to the First Maksimir Lake, which is located along the main avenue of Maksimir Park.
It is the closest lake to the main entrance to the park and is the most visited. The lake is artificial, located along the main avenue, known for its lookout and catering facilities. The main avenue leads from the main entrance to the park all the way to the interior of the park and connects its key points. On it you will always notice walkers, families with children, runners and all those who come to the green lungs of the metropolis. The image and colors change depending on the season, but it is always active.
Certainly the most famous architecture of Maksimir Park is the Lookout, which is viewed from the main entrance to the park. It is also known as the Kiosk. It was built between 1841 and 1843 according to a design by Franz Schucht.
The Maksimir Forest Park, the first in Southeast Europe, was opened in 1794 at the initiative of Bishop Maksimilijan Vrhovac. In 1839, it was arranged in the English landscape style by Bishop Juraj Haulik. Most of the architectural objects are the works of the builder Franjo Schücht. The flora and fauna of the lowland forests are preserved in the 316-hectare park, and there are also five lakes (some natural, some artificial). At the southern end of the park-forest is the Zagreb Zoo.
