Be what you want to be and visit the Carnival in Rijeka – is the catchword of this year's 35th edition of the Rijeka Carnival. Although the carnival has just begun, the most colorful and the funiest days or as it is called in Rijeka by "5. season" are following.

The Rijeka Carnival is the largest and most famous carnival in the Kvarner area and certainly the most recognizable part of the image of Rijeka itself. His magnificent parades and imaginative performances make him one of the most important carnival in Europe and the most significant carnival event in Croatia. This Carnival is listed on 500 Top 500 events in Europe, the Sunday Times declared it one of the most exotic events in the world, and the Rijeka Tourist Board received the Golden Touristic Heart Award as the organizer of the best tourist event in South East Europe in 2009. The Rijeka Carnival is also an important segment of the European Capital of Culture project in 2020, as a cultural and traditional event that is an integral part of the city's identity. All these facts attract more and more visitors from all over the world to participate or at least accompanied the Rijeka Carnival and enjoy the color, the excellent mood, the dance and certainly to hide behind their masks and be what they want to be at least for one day.

In less than a month, the most fun carnival entertainments will be presented, beginning with the election and crowning of the new Queen of Rijeka Carnival, which will handing over the authorities of the city to the hands of carnival people. In the schedule of the new government there are as many fun games, concerts, special sports as snowboard competition just by the sea and rally in which masked participants and their vehicles having fun in the squares, but also a few humanitarian events and a culmination is certainly with Children's and International carnival procession.
