Regatta Fiumanka in Rijeka

Rijeka and its harbor once again become a meeting place for many sailors at the 27th Fiumanka international sailing event. It is marked by interesting events on the sea and at the seaside in period from 8th to 13th of June.

This largest sailing event and a key event within the European Region of Sport program once again transforms the Rijeka waters and port into the center of sports, culture and entertainment.

The regatta was organized for the first time in 2000, when 114 sailboats gathered on the sea in front of Rijeka.At that time, Fiumanka was the largest Croatian regatta, and over the years it continued to grow, develop and build its international recognition until today.Her sails were strongly imprinted in the identity of the city, an important maritime destination and the largest Croatian port.Throughout history, Rijeka has been the center of trade, shipbuilding and seafaring, and Fiumanka once again gave it an incentive to turn towards the sea.

A week-long program of regattas, workshops, exhibitions ("Back to Blu"), socializing and entertainment as part of Fiumanka. On June 12, "Paper Fiumanka" is held at the 128th Brigade Square of the Croatian Army, intended for the youngest.

The first among the regattas will be the 5th edition of Student Fiumanka (June 11th and 12th), which brings together teams from the University of Rijeka and guests from other cities. In the evening, the Fiumanka Island Opening Party will take place, a unique party in Porto Baroš that symbolically opens Fiumanka and introduces the city to the sailing weekend.

On June 12, the eve of the main regatta, Fiumanka and the Croatian National Theatre Zajc are preparing a spectacle at sea "Let's sail with Fiumanka into the Rijeka Summer Nights", a spectacular concert at sea in the Rijeka harbor with opera soloists and a choir.

The main regatta Velika Fiumanka will be held on June 14, and will be preceded by various themed regattas as well as a media regatta. Fiumanka was started in honor of the patron saint of Rijeka St. Vid on 15th June.

Along with the sports section and various regattas, Fiumanka will once again be accompanied by a rich program this year: evening entertainment and a series of daily events that will once again make Rijeka an indispensable destination for all lovers of the sea and good times. The central place of events is popular Gat which will be transformed into the city's living room and a park by the sea during those days.

After the Fiumanka has sailed, there will be a sailing party and a musical journey with Finta De Mona, followed by the announcement of the winners of the 27th Fiumanka and the awarding of trophies to the most successful crews. The party continues with Dulet i Bonaca and Finta de Mona.

Because sailing is more than a sport, and Fiumanka is more than a regatta, and thanks to a unique approach to organization, the Rijeka regatta has successfully positioned itself among the leading nautical events in terms of attractiveness, number of participants and international recognition.

Fiumanka strongly promotes Rijeka and Kvarner as a tourist and sports destination. Visit Rijeka and the largest Croatian sailing festival, which has been gathering thousands of sailors and visitors from Croatia and abroad for almost three decades.
