Tuhelj

The wet place was especially prominent in the area of ​​Tuheljske Toplice, so the Erdödy family built the baroque Mihanović castle in the 18th century, next to today's Termi Tuhelj. After some time, due to a pledge, it passed into the hands of Ban Josip Brigljević, son-in-law of Antun Mihanović, the creator of the Croatian national anthem 'Ljepa naša domovino'. As he liked Tuhelj, he often stopped by and stayed there, so the castle eventually got his name.

Today, the restored castle is a well-known restaurant and catering facility with authentic Zagorje cuisine, where various events are held, from business congresses to weddings, while its interior is decorated with original knightly weapons and armor.

Terme Tuhelj is located only 45 minutes from Zagreb and has become a favorite destination for escaping everyday life, enjoying wellness and spa facilities, recharging batteries and improving lifestyle.

They are one of the most famous Croatian thermal baths, and certainly one of the most visited in the summer. With 15,000 square meters of surface area, a third of which is under water, this water planet offers numerous water attractions - from indoor and outdoor pools, children's pools, slides, waterfalls, a lazy river, whirlpools, water massages, wellness, saunas to a cocktail bar on the water. .It is worth mentioning that all pools are filled with thermal water from the spring.

Thermal springs of 32.5 °C were mentioned as early as 1777. They were originally called Smrdeča, because of the smell of hydrogen sulphide, and as people became increasingly aware of their healing properties over time, the first swimming pool was built in 1932. Today, there is a modern complex of eight swimming pools in Tuheljske Toplice.

Thanks to the excellent results in 2017, Terme Tuhelj was in the top 10 best tourist destinations in terms of total tourist traffic.
