Platak

In the Kvarner highlands, on the edge of National Park Risnjak, there is a small ski resort - Platak.

It is only half an hour drive away from Rijeka, but because of its position, Platak has a unique climate - a mix of Mediterranean and mountain climate, so winters here are mostly cold, regardless of the closeness of the sea.

The highest peak of the ski resort is Radeševo from where it is possible to enjoy the beautiful view of the islands and Kvarner bay. You have a variety of opportunities for a quality and interesting vacation on Platak. You can sled, snowboard, ski or have a walk, drink coffee and boiled wine in the X-bar and Sova cafe bar, or take a good lunch in the mountain huts Sušak (Small Home) and Platak (Large Home).

Ski equipment can be rented for snowboarding or skiing. For beginners, there are teachers and professionals so you don't have to be afraid. There are also night-skiing on the floodlights on the bright illuminated paths Radeševo 1 and Zavoj 19. There is also an extra ski slope for all riders and skiers who think that main path is overwhelming for them. Of course, all kids and those who do not feel so ready to board or ski can sled on the extra ski slope. It is also possible to sled in the Pribeniš valley.

But, Platak is not a perfect destination just in the winter. It is extremely popular in the summer, especially for mountaineers. If you choose to walk along the landscaped and marked trails, you will reach the Risnjak and Snježnik peaks, from which you can enjoy the wonderful view. All mountain bikers will love this place thanks to the macadam roads. Also, you can play volleyball on sand, basketball, soccer or rent a place for grill. Children can ride pedal cars, jump on a trampoline, play in children's parks, and try driving on a small "zip-line" designed just for kids.
