Currently, there are about 780,000 tourists in Croatia, of which 200,000 are German, 135 thousand Slovenian, 130 thousand domestic, 74 thousand Polish and 46 thousand Czech tourists. According to the Croatian Tourist Board, which published tourist figures for August: so far about 70% of last year's result, most guests in Istria, Kvarner and Split-Dalmatia County.

The large crowds at the borders, toll stations, ferry ports are proof that the introduced epidemiological measures do not interfere with the tourist season. Most tourists are recorded in cities that are faster and easier to reach by car, because tourists have probably not yet been encouraged enough to start traveling by bus transport and other forms of public transport.

The top 5 where the most overnight stays were: Vir, Rovinj, Medulin, Novalja and Mali Lošinj. And among the top 10 destinations is Crikvenica, which was chosen by tourists because it is the fastest to reach, and the island of Krk. Last minute bookings have become a new trend.

Unfortunately, other more distant destinations were missed, such as Dubrovnik, which is far from the usual crowds, and Dalmatia, which did a little worse than the north of the Adriatic.

We must emphasize that Vir is the first on the list among the Top 5, also the first destination to reach a million overnight stays. We can freely say - Vir is the most successful Croatian destination in July and August. Vir has a recognizable story and many properties owned by foreigners who have become regular guests, and a top recommendation as a family destination. Vir has shown its full tourist potential and quality despite the general coronavirus crisis.
