Boat Marathon

This is a traditional cultural event and race that takes place once a year in August, and participants on traditional boats race along the Neretva River from Metković, through Krvavac, Opuzen, Komin, Banje, Rogotin, Stabline, up to 22,580 meters of distant goal in Ploče. The Marathon begins under the bridge in Metković and ends in Ploče.
This event one of the biggest sporting events in Croatia. This year due to compliance with epidemiological measures, without spectators and accompanying events at the start and finish and with far fewer audiences than in previous years. Neretvans cheered their favorites as always, along the entire 22.5-kilometer-long river route in all places along the Neretva, the boatmen were accompanied by the ringing of church bells, as well as numerous fans who cheered them with torches and songs.
The news is that for the first time in 23 years of rowing the Boat Marathon, the shield of Prince Domagoj is shared by two winners: the team from Zagreb and Stabline, and the third is Sveti Ilija from Metković. Although the people of Zagreb have already celebrated the victory, the judges' organization made the decision after reviewing the video to share the first place.
