World cities such as Lyon, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Helsinki and St. Petersburg has combined light and sound into special art for a long time, and in 2017 Zagreb joined them. The first Zagreb Light Festival lasting 4 days was held in 7 locations and only one year later it expanded to 19 different locations.
The Zagreb Light Festival was created to become a new tradition and the first herald of spring in Zagreb. After a two-year break, the streets, squares, parks and sights become an art canvas for magical light installations through which artists will show us their visions in all known locations from 16 to 20 March. The light will illuminate numerous buildings throughout the Upper and Lower Towns, transforming the old town in a modern and unusual way. Modern technology and fine arts will merge with the performances of musicians, performers and dancers into one unique event for all generations.
Tunnel Grič, Art Park, Tomićeva Street, Lotrščak tower, Strossmayer Promenade, Vranicani field, Grič Park, Plato Gradec, Atrium and Gallery Klovićevi Dvori, Jezuitski Square, Opatička Street, Croatian Institute of History, the large courtyard of the Zagreb City Museum, the Vraz's promenade, Dubravka promenade, the church of St. Catherine are some of many locations with attractive audiovisual installations and projections.
This Festival is another reason to visit Zagreb, and the motto is: "Shine! Cheer! Illumination! Enthusiasm! Illusion! Confusion! will surely appear in many social networks as #hashtag and attach to the unique photos!
Let's welcome spring in the brightly awakened city in the evening and thus step into a better, brighter future. During the 5 days of the festival, many magical locations await you.
