Kaštela is a picturesque town of Central Dalmatia.
Kaštela are the name for seven smaller connected places along the coast of Kaštela bay. These are Kaštel Štafilić, Kaštel Novi, Kaštel Stari, Kaštel Lukšić, Kaštel Kambelovac, Kaštel Gomilica and Kaštel Sućurac. Above Kaštela, in the direction of west-east stretches the Kozjak mountain and further east the Mosor mountain.
Most of the Kaštela field is still alternating with vineyards, olive groves, cherry trees and figs, and indigenous Mediterranean vegetation with protected monuments of natural heritage and park architecture. In each of the settlements along the Kaštela bay you will find something interesting.
In Kastel Lukšić it is a mythical castle and a church where the famous lovers, dalmatian Romeo and Juliet, Miljenko and Dobrila, were buried. Their legend about unhappy love is transmitted from generation to generation. Kaštela parks and 1500 years old olive tree Mastrinka will enchant you with their combination of tradition and the beauty of the landscape.
Kaštel Lukšić is otherwise a protected monument of culture and has kept all its originality. It seemed to be out of the sea, and it’s connected with the mainland with a junction at the entrance door.
