There are many destinations where you could spend the second part of your vacation and the end of summer, but none is as special as the island of Pag.

The Moon island as many call it, is really different from most of the big Croatian islands. It is rich in mud and deep coves, the most beautiful beaches that are very popular where top-notch commercials, music videos and covers of fashion magazines are recorded, and the moonlit surface of the island facing Velebit and strong wind called “bura”. Pag, an island of salt and cheese, is one of our largest and most diverse islands, full of events all year long, and in the summer season you can really choose from a variety of events and attractive places on the island.

The town of Pag

Since 1855, there is a venerable procession in Pag, where the statue of the Mother of God from the Old Town, accompanying by thousands of prayers and believers, is caring in the Main church in the center of Pag on the Assumption Day. It is called Vela Stomorina. This is the biggest holiday of Pag. Believers from all over the island come to Pag, and most of them walk a night before from their places to the Shrine to pray to the Mother of God. It is being held on August 20th and 21st in Vela Street with a rich program.

The events also extend into September, when the Traditional Singing of the City of Pag will take place on the Main Square and Branimir's Shore on September 4th.

Parish worshipers of Pag who for centuries worshiped Mary Lady of the Old City with the daily prayers in the Pag’s church link the feasts of the Assumption Day and Nativity of the Theotokos which is held on 8th of September. In 23 days from the Assumption Day to Nativity of the Theotokos Pag’s worshipers say 92 set of prayers: 4876 Hail Mary; 552 The Father and the Glory of the Father. The statue of Mother of God traditionally carry men dressed in traditional folk costumes, and with the statue of Mother of God are also members of the church choir. In the magnificent procession from the new to old town of Pag every year, several thousand worshipers participate in it.
