Viganj is situated in a large bay on the peninsula Pelješac, opposite the island of Korčula. The cape of St. John, as the western border of Viganj and the place where the Pelješac canal ends, on whose top is the church of the same name, offers a unique view and unforgettable sunset.
In recent years, Viganj has gained the reputation of one of the best sailing places across Europe and surfers from all over the world are descending on it. The best evidence of sailing possibilities which Pelješac offers is the fact that there was a World Championship on windsurfing in 2003. What makes Viganj special is the possibility of sailing all year long, not just in the summer months. Except the world championships, there are lots of European and national competitions and regattas every year which are held in Viganj.
