New top destination in Istria

The medieval town of Svetvinčenat is special and unique small town. In recent years, with its attractive programs and events held in historic locations, it attracts many visitors and promotes the tradition, culture, customs and gastronomy of Istria.

Events starts with the Rožić Festival in April, continues with an exhibition and the proclamation of Miss Goat in June, and July brings the aromas and flavors of cheese on the occasion of the Cheese Festival. July is the month of the most famous event, the already traditional international Festival of Dance and Non-Verbal Theater. The medieval festival in August is held on the beautiful main town square Placa. At the end of autumn, Svetvinčenat offers the Young Wine Festival, an oenological event during which the best Istrian winemakers present their novelties.

The sights of the town are the castle of Morosini Grimani, the renaissance square with a loggia, churches and painted frescoes. Svetvincenat adorns the Renaissance Placa square with the Morosini-Grimani castle, one of the best-preserved examples of Venetian architecture in Istria and beyond.

In 2020, the renovated Morosini Castle forms the natural core of culturally sustainable tourism, which is why the small municipality of Svetvinčenat has positioned itself as a culturally recognizable tourist destination throughout the year. With its 5 floors, it offers a handful of interesting contents adapted to everyone's taste.

This imposing fortress was built in the early 13th century, and today it is a place where you can socialize with a glass of good Istrian wine and homemade prosciutto and cheese, where you can enjoy an attractive multimedia exhibition that perfectly complements the nearby Witch Mare House. A place where you can even get married or celebrate some other event. This year, in July, the renovated castle will celebrate its first birthday.

In the municipality of Svetvinčenat there are opportunities for cycling, hiking, trekking and hunting throughout the year. The 33.5-kilometer-long trail that connects the cultural and natural heritage of Istria starts right here, and passes through Viduline, Krančići, Bale, Prianovac and Burić, from where it returns to Svetvinčenat and ends in front of the Morosini-Grimani castle. Svetvincenat also has a 35-kilometer-long educational trail Dinneridi trail, which can be visited not only by bicycle on foot, quad or horse.

And for the very end, Svetvinčenat is this year's champion of tourism on the continent according to the Tourist Patrol of Večernji list and has definitely profiled itself as a destination for family tourism.

In cooperation with the Tourist Board of Svetvinčenat, we provide a view to the most famous landmark of this beautiful town, Placa square with the castle Morosini-Grimani.
