Sveta Nedjelja (in the local dialect: Sveta Nedija) is located on the south coast of the island of Hvar, opposite the Old Town, 12 km from the town of Hvar. Sveta Nedjelja is one of the most desirable places on the island of Hvar. It is located under the highest peak of the island - St. Nicholas, below the cave within which in the Renaissance was located a small Augustinian monastery, of which only the church remains.
The village consists of two parts: the old part with built stone houses makes a typical Dalmatian village with narrow streets and architecture taken from the west side of the village gives a beautiful photo - for a postcard. The new part is located by the sea and is mainly used for tourism.
Thanks to its perfect geographical position and climatic conditions, on the sloping and sunny slopes of the island of Hvar, where vines grow well. The best types of Hvar red wines are made in Sveta Nedelja (mostly planted with the well-known Plavac mali grape variety). In Sveta Nedelja is located the cellar of the Zlatan Otok company of the famous Croatian vintner Zlatan Plenković, where, upon request, wine tastings with a view of the seabed are held.
Below the village is a beautiful beach with a cave on Pataršćica, and in the vicinity there are numerous pebble beaches and hidden coves. In the village itself there is a distillery of rosemary and lavender oil.
Sveta Nedilja is a very quiet village, ideal for a family vacation. The sea is extremely clean, warm and quite deep for swimmers and divers. Here you can go surfing due to the very frequent winds, cycling enthusiasts will definitely get their money's worth, hiking enthusiasts can go to the top of Sv. Nikola marked hiking trail from several directions, and here is very popular and free climbing along the rocks at sea.
Holidays in Sveta Nedelja are attractive all year round, especially in spring, summer and autumn, because in all seasons you feel perfect peace with the characteristic scents of natural plants.
