From April 29 to May 9, 2026, GREW Days will be held in Kolan and Zadar, a program of events dedicated to the preservation of wetlands, natural and cultural heritage, and the promotion of sustainable development of the local community.
The central part of the program is the opening of the educational trail "Paths of Kolanj's Past", which gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the values of the Kolanj field, Kolanj mud, wetlands, local tradition, biodiversity and stories that preserve the identity of this region.
During GREW Days, visitors can expect cyanotype and plant printing workshops, workshops on recognizing and picking wild edible plants, guided educational walks, bird watching, a cultural program, exhibitions, storytelling content, and presentations of local products and island flavors.
Special emphasis is placed on connecting the natural heritage of Kolan with local tradition and sustainable tourism. Through the program, visitors will be able to learn about the importance of preserving wetlands, the Kolan field, wild plants, traditional cuisine, and the cultural and natural heritage of the town of Kolan on the island of Pag.
The "Paths of Kolan's Past" trail was financed by the Development of Cycling and Pedestrian Tourism Product program of the Zadar County Tourist Board.
The GREW Days program is organized as part of the GREW – Governance of Wetlands in Italy-Croatia Cross Border Region project, implemented by the Zadar County Rural Development Agency (AGRRA) in cooperation with the Kolan Municipality Tourist Board. The GREW project is co-financed by the European Union through the Italy-Croatia Cross-Border Cooperation Program 2021-2027.
