The Boris Hanžeković memorial is the oldest sports event in Croatia. It has been held since 1951 in honor of the tragically deceased athlete Boris Hanžeković. From 2020, the meeting is part of the Continental Tour Gold category.
Boris Hanžeković Memorial is also a great promoter of Croatian athletics, whose goal, in addition to popularizing sports, is to encourage our athletes to achieve even better results.
For the third year in a row, Zagreb will host top world athletes from more than 130 countries for three days. This three-day sports event provides a unique athletic spectacle that delights thousands of spectators every year, and is broadcast by TV stations in more than 150 countries around the world.
The 74th international athletics meeting will be held at three locations in Zagreb.
06.09.2024. - Zagreb City Challenge
The event begins on September 6 with the third Zagreb City Challenge at Ban Jelačić Square. For the purposes of the competition, there is 20 tons of sand and an elevated 60-meter runway. Athletes will jump alternately in series, then athletes. The idea of this event is to bring athletics closer to people and perform it outside the stadium. Every year, the square is packed with people who enjoy exciting competitions and superb athletic performances.
07.09.2024. - Memorial of Ivan Ivančić
The second day, September 7, is reserved for the Ivan Ivančić Memorial, a traditional shot put competition held at Fontana. This event always attracts huge interest from the crowd, who come to see the world's best shot putters in action.
08.09.2024. - 74. Boris Hanžeković Memorial
The finale of the three-day sports spectacle will be held on September 8 with the 74th Boris Hanžeković Memorial. The world's best athletes will compete in different athletic disciplines, providing spectators with unforgettable moments and the ultimate sports experience.
