Preko on the island of Ugljan is the main ferry port, the traffic and administrative center of the island, a tourist spot and the center of a municipality in Zadar County. It is located on the northeastern coast of the island of Ugljan and has over 1,500 inhabitants. It got its name from the fact that it is located right across from the historic town of Zadar.
The Marina is located in the center of the town, which provides good protection from winds from all directions, and is close to all restaurants, shops and markets.
The old parts of the town abound with typical Dalmatian architecture, narrow stone streets and old country houses of Zadar noble families.
Today, most of these houses offer quality and affordable accommodation in well-furnished apartments, rooms or entire holiday homes that offer an irresistible Dalmatian charm.
The beautiful sandy beach Jaz is the main beach in the town of Preko, where the Blue Flag is flying, a symbol of clean sea and well-maintained beaches.
As part of the beach, there is a beach volleyball court, a children's playground, and catering facilities, which makes it perfect for a pleasant family vacation. Only 80 m from the shore of Prek lies the romantic islet of Galevac (Školjić), covered with lush Mediterranean vegetation and on which there is a valuable historical monument - a Franciscan monastery from the 15th century. On the eastern side of the town, near the ferry pier, there is another valuable cultural monument - Romanesque church of St. John the Baptist.
