Zabok

The town, which is one of the most important road and railway junctions in Croatian Zagorje, can provide you with a very interesting one-day trip, since there are two castles in Zabok, and its surroundings are decorated with numerous historical sights. It has its historical coat of arms, which is now the coat of arms of the city.

One of the most beautiful and charming castles in Hrvatski Zagorje is definitely Gjalski Castle. The legendary writer Gjalski was born in this castle named Gredica, which was named after him after his death. Ksaver Šandor Gjalski is especially beloved in Zagorac because of his immense love for his native region, which he loved to write about so much. Today, Gjalski Castle has been converted into a charming hotel with a restaurant, and is an excellent choice for important events such as weddings and the like. The castle deservedly received the status of a four-star hotel and the status of a heritage hotel. Gjalski Castle is the only castle in Zagorje that received this status. Every autumn, the cultural manifestation 'Ksaver Šandor Gjalski Days' is held in Zabok.
