For the 16th year in a row, the Nin Tourist Board is organizing and inviting you to celebrate World Bird Watching Day on October 2nd, starting at 10 am in the fields of the Nin Saltworks.

Nin is ell known for its rich historical heritage, but also for its natural heritage. The greatest natural wealth of Nin is the NATURA 2000 habitats, which surround the old town core, and where rare, sensitive and endemic plants and some endangered bird species can be found. The Bay of Nin is included in the Croatian Ecological Network under the number HR3000176. Of particular importance is the protection of saline habitats and halophilic plant species, certain bird species, which are the primary conservation targets for NATURA 2000.

In order to regularly monitor the Nin Bay and Nin Lagoon, renowned Croatian biologists have been coming to the town of Nin for years. Jasenka Topić, Goran Šafarek, Gordan Lukač, Ivan Budinski, and employees of Natura Jadera, a public institution for the management of protected areas of nature in Zadar County, have been regularly teaching tourism professionals about the ecological significance of this area for Croatia, Europe, and the world for many years.
Partners in the project are: Solana Nin, Natura Jadera – a public institution for the management of protected areas of nature in the Zadar County area, and Petar Zoranić Elementary School Nin.
We invite all friends of nature and birds to join us in the fields of the Nin Saltworks.
See you in Nin, a city that is home to over 240 different species of birds.
