Light is life in Sibenik

Light is Life in Šibenik is a unique multimedia event that combines light installations, music and art, creating a magical atmosphere in the city.

Šibenik is celebrating a double anniversary this year, 130 years since the arrival of electricity in the city and the tenth edition of the Light is Life event. Krešimir's town became one of the first in the world with public lighting on alternating current back in 1895, when the Jaruga hydroelectric power plant launched a new era and changed the lives of its residents forever. In honor of this event, the streets are decorated with 2D blue luminous fish, statues, monuments and blue lightning, and the sea is full of illuminated blue sailboats.

The city continues to proudly preserve this heritage as part of its identity. This year's theme is "The Second Industrial Revolution", because it was at that time that Šibenik launched its industry with alternating current, thereby making a breakthrough that placed it among the pioneers of global energy progress. The message of the event remains equally clear and strong, and that is to remind us how much energy has shaped the world we live in and how important it is to recognize its value.

Visitors can enjoy impressive lighting effects that highlight the beauty of Šibenik's architecture and surroundings, and experience the blend of technology and creativity that brings Šibenik to life at night.

On the facade of the former Hotel Krka building, visitors will be able to enjoy impressive 3D mapping that tells the story of the city's history and interesting facts.

The park will shine again through the installations that have accompanied the event all these years.

A special attraction of this year's event will be a spectacular drone show, the first of its kind in this part of Croatia. In the sky above Šibenik, hundreds of luminous drones will form fascinating scenes related to the theme of light and energy: light bulbs, lightning and symbols reminiscent of the historical moment when the city first lit up. To complete the experience, Šibenik's waterfront will be closed to traffic and transformed into a large open-air stage, where visitors will be able to enjoy a rarely seen light show that will certainly become one of the unforgettable experiences of this summer.

The musical highlight will certainly be the concert by Marko Škugor, who will sing from a boat anchored off the coast of Šibenik. The sea will become a natural stage, and the waterfront a large open-air auditorium.
