On the last Friday in August in Kolan on the island of Pag, the Cheese Festival is held with accompanying events throughout the week.
This event, which has become a trademark of the end of August on Pag, brings together numerous producers, exhibitors, guests from all over Croatia and abroad, and lovers of authentic flavors.
A gastronomic event that celebrates the symbol of the island of Pag - Pag cheese, and Kolan, as the cradle of its production, has long been recognized and recognized for Pag cheese on the world map, as evidenced by numerous international recognitions and awards.
The cheese festival is traditionally held on the last Friday in August (29.) at the initiative of the Association of Pag Cheese producers and gathers the best cheese producers from the island of Pag and cheese lovers. 47 producers will come to the Cheese Festival, which also carries the HOP designation as an intangible cultural asset, and it is a great honor that it is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia. This year's 9th festival is held at King Tomislav Square in Kolan, and the main program begins at 7 p.m. The program begins a few days before the main event with a series of educational and creative workshops; wool felting, salt drawing, a gastronomic masterclass, an exclusive UverSIR dinner. The special guest of this year's festival is Michelle Buster, an internationally recognized cheese expert and importer of European cheeses to the USA who has significantly contributed to the global recognition of Pag cheese.
