For anyone enraptured by the remarkable performances of Croatia at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, it will certainly come as no surprise that this is a country which is fiercely passionate about its football.
For that reason, sports fans vacationing in this country should never miss out on the opportunity to attend a few matches while they’re here. Along with the possibility of seeing favourite teams in action, Croatia also boasts some of the most beautiful football venues in Europe thanks to their architecture or their unique location.
Stadion Maksimir - Dinamo Zagreb
One of the oldest football stadiums in Croatia, this venue has had many facelifts over the years. It’s also home to Dinamo Zagreb, who continue their tradition as the most successful team in Croatian football history and are arguably the strongest and most backed team to win the 2018-19 Prva HNL title once again. The atmosphere and excitement amongst fans at games is always lively and a large part of why their team has been so successful over the years.

Stadion Gospin dolac - NK Imotski
Gospin dolac was ranked as one of the "World’s Most Beautiful Sports Arenas" by the BBC in 2017. Home team NK Imotski play in the lowly third tier of Croatian football but that really doesn’t matter much to anyone visiting this wonderful venue. The modest but suitably proportioned Stadion Gospin dolac is, without a doubt, one of the most picturesque locations in the world to watch a game, amidst beautiful rocky surroundings and overlooked by a medieval castle.

Stadion Kantrida - HNK Rijeka
If viewing the game itself doesn’t always enthral spectators at venues, at least HNK Rijeka can boast providing fans to their stadium with some of the most spectacular coastal vistas. It’s easy to take your eye off the ball during a match, because looking over scenic Kvarner Bay and the islands is simply spectacular; especially so if you’re there for an evening game at sunset.

Stadion Poljud - Hajduk Split
Stadion Poljud was formerly known at the Gradski Stadion. It's the second largest venue in Croatia, and fans of the ultra-modern will certainly enjoy their visit here. Home of Hajduk Split, perhaps the second most famous Croatian football club, Stadion Poljud is a multi-purpose venue which has also hosted some of the most prestigious international athletics events, such as the European Athletics Championships or the IAAF Continental Cup.
