Zagreb International Folklore Festival

From July 15th to 19th, the streets and squares in the very center of Zagreb will come alive with the 60th Zagreb International Folklore Festival, an event that shows the beauty of tradition and one of the most important events in the field of folklore and traditional culture in Croatia.

The 60th anniversary of the Zagreb International Folklore Festival once again encourages reflection on the cultural role and significance of this festival in an international context.

Therefore, the program of the 60th festival will include folklore groups that performed at the very first festival held in 1966. With the cultural and artistic groups from all over Croatia, groups from Slovenia, Argentina, the Czech Republic, Italy, Macedonia, the USA, Serbia, Spain a nd Taiwan have been announced. Croatian folklore groups from Argentina, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada and Serbia are also expected.

They will all perform on stages on the Upper Town's Gradec plateau, Ban Josip Jelačić Square and the Zrinjevac Music Pavilion, presenting traditional songs and dances from their regions to the audience.

Except their performances, the Folklore Festival also hosts numerous ethnographic exhibitions, expert panels and scientific concerts of contemporary interpretations of traditional music, workshops and concerts of native drinks.

Visit Zagreb and during five exciting days get to know the diverse folklore heritage through dance, song, music and traditional costumes in the most beautiful scenery of the city center.
