Rab's Fjera - Medieval Summer Festival in Rab

Rab’s Fjera is based on tradition started 21st of July 1364, when the City Council of Rab decided to celebrate and honor King Louis the Great who freed them from the Venetian rule, as well as holiday honoring St. Christopher, patron saint of the town of Rab. Once a long time fjera lasted for 14 days, but today is held within the walls of the old town from 25^th to 27^th of July. The renewed ceremony of Rab's fjera lasts for three days: July 25 (St. James's Day), July 26 (St. Anne's Day) and July 27 (St. Christopher's Feast).

The entire island goes back in time during those days. Small artisan stores move to the streets, so you can have your belt or a perfumed pomade made in front of your eyes, while your hair is being braided with tiny flowers into a typical do from the medieval times. Freshly fried šulčići are served and at the beach an entire fishermen village is built altogether with the traditional tools, machines and even toys for children. Air is filled with the song and music, while tuna, fritule, cheese and wine are served to passers by.

The Rab’s fjera each year with an interesting cultural program enriches the life of the city of Rab and is the only event that everyone are looking forward to with the same enthusiasm as the tourists. Every year there are over 30.000 visitors (locals and foreigners) who come to see, hear and taste the spirit of the Middle Age and fill in with good energy. Rab’s fjera represents the highlight of the tourist season and leave beautiful memories to guests of all generations.

But it is not too late for visiting one of the most famous tourist events on the coast because this unique event will be held from July 25-27 on the Island of happiness and at the same time it is the most beautiful invitation to visit Rab.
