The Medieval Festival takes place on the first weekend of August. In 3 days, Svetvinčenat returns to the real Middle Ages. Organized by the Municipality of Svetvinčenat, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Svetvinčenat and Savičente d.o.o. this year marks the 12th edition of the Medieval Festival in Svetvinčent, which you can visit from August 2 to 4.
The medieval festival with its historical backdrop is reputed to be unique in the area. The festival hosts about 20 of the best associations from all over Europe, which enrich the program of this event with their activities and performances. In the rich three-day program, stories and legends, a falconry show, equestrian tournaments, knight fights, archery, fencing and a spectacular fire show are staged. At the festival, you can expect a medieval fair, craft workshops, street entertainers and a rich gastronomic offer.
The festival program is divided into three thematic days: family day (Friday), day of chivalry (Saturday) and day of legends (Sunday), and is adapted for all generations.
It all starts on Friday, August 2, when the knights' camps open their doors at 6:00 p.m., followed by an archery show, a magnificent falconry show and a ceremonial parade through the entire place. Friday is also reserved for the already traditional and most awaited activity for the youngest: the children's battle for the defense of the castle.
Saturday, August 3, is intended as the Day of Chivalry, and you will be able to see knightly fights, martial arts, presentation of medieval artillery and siege devices of the association, and one of the main points of the evening is the equestrian tournament, followed by an attractive fire show.
The last day, Sunday, August 4, is dedicated to legends. A rich program awaits you, and along with knights' fights, the performance of standard-bearers and an equestrian tournament will culminate with an excellent fire show. Everything ends with the presentation of the legend of the witch Mara and the "stage burning" of the castle.
In the Morosini-Grimani castle, take a break with medieval cocktails and a lounge corner, laugh with short and entertaining plays, enjoy gastronomic specialties and dance in the medieval spirit.
Every day you can expect a medieval fair, a presentation of medieval cuisine, craft workshops, fresco painting, archery, fencing, street entertainers, medieval games and a gastronomic offer.
Last year, the festival was recognized and proposed as a finalist for the "Tourist Event of the Year" among hundreds of manifestations, which is proof of the quality of the content, program and all festival participants.
