Samobor celebrates its birthday

The day of Samobor celebrates the day when King Bela IV. on 1242. donated to Samobor the Charter of the Free Royal Market, and is officially celebrated on the third Saturday in October. 

Samobor City Day and the great 782nd anniversary will be celebrated this year with a rich and varied weekend program, 18. - 19. October.

Concerts, exhibitions, free film screenings, literary meetings, lectures, quizzes, the Kotlovina Festival and tasting of famous Samobor gastro and eno products are part of the rich program of the Samobor City Day celebration.

The central Saturday celebratory program, on October 18, will begin at 8 am with a vigil by the Samobor City Music, and then at 10 am, a wreath-laying ceremony and candle-lighting ceremony will be held in the Park of Homeland Gratitude to honor the defenders who gave their lives for a free and independent Croatia. At the invitation of the Samobor National Guard, more than 25 historical units from various parts of Croatia will participate in the ceremony, which will parade through the streets of Samobor and hold a review on King Tomislav Square.

At the foot of the parish church of St. Anastasia, there will be a Kotlovina Festival and a mushroom exhibition with a tasting of mushroom kettles.

In the newly renovated Brenta, Samobor wines and famous Samobor gastronomic products protected at the European level will be offered.

On Friday, October 17th, at 9 pm, Baks, Bejbe, Špiro and Tej will perform in the Bunker, and concerts will also be available during the weekend of October 18th and 19th. On Saturday, October 18th, at King Tomislav Square, from 8 pm, Nina Badrić will perform, and on Sunday, October 19th, from 5 pm, the concert "Livadić under the Stars" will be held by our famous Tamburaško društvo Ferdo Livadić and the Samoborke Vocal Ensemble, as well as soloists Renata Sabljak, Jacques Houdek, Đani Stipaničev and Roko Vušković.
