Krk Fair Lovrečeva is a three-day event with a rich program that has always attracted many visitors to the city of Krk.
The Krk Fair was held for the first time in 1524, since when it has been held with occasional interruptions. In the Middle Ages, merchants from all over Europe came to the Krk Fair. In those ancient times, ships full of goods from all over the world sailed into the port of Krk.
The basic goal of the event has not changed much over the centuries. In modern times, the Krk Fair has become a tourist attraction and is traditionally held in August on the day of St. Lawrence.
This year's 498th edition of Krk Fair in an effort to nourish the tradition of the oldest manifestation in Croatia’s part of the Adriatic, has been conceptualised in a way to enable the visitors to experience the medieval and Renaissance Krk and its tradition and culture while taking a walk through the town. The event will feature exhibitions of medieval knights’ equipment, short plays and performance shows, knight tournaments, workshops for children, presentations of knightly skills, street performances of folklore ensembles, brass bands and local multipart signing groups and, of course, a fair of authentic traditional and products made by small producers and family farms from Krk and the rest of Croatia.
The program will take place in the evening at several city locations - on the Krk waterfront, Kamplin Square and Square of Croatian Glagolitic and at several different locations in the city of Krk will be the central part of the event - a fair of traditional and ethno products, products of small producers and family farms from the area of the island of Krk and Croatia. The program on Kamplin Square is designed as a living backdrop that will give visitors a view of Krk in the Frankopan era. The entertainment part of the event this year will be held in the form of promenade performances by folklore societies, brass bands and local klapas.
