Sljeme - a ski resort for the people of Zagreb and a great boon above the Croatian capital. Sljeme offers skiing 20 minutes from the center of Zagreb, which is a rarity anywhere in the world, but it has been a daily occurrence here for more than half a century. The best Croatian skiers, Janica and Ivica Kostelic, started their first ski steps on the way to world skiing glory on the ski slopes of the Medvednica mountain.
Ski slopes and cable cars are located on the peak ridge and the northern slopes of Medvednica. The trails start almost at the very top and continue to stretch gently along the peak ridge to the east by the White Downhill and steeply to the north by the Red Downhill. Along the Red Downhill on the northern slopes, using the terrain configuration, there are Green, Blue and White Downhills. The total length of the trail is about 4 km.
Three ski lifts, 2 lifts (on the White and Green slopes) and a three-seater lift (on the Red Downhill), have a total capacity of about 3,300 skiers per hour. Red, White, Green and part of Blue Downhill are equipped with an artificial snow system. Ski slopes are arranged with modern machines for arranging ski slopes. The ski lighting system also enables night skiing on Red and White Downhill.
In addition to the conditions for recreational skiing, the Sljeme Ski Resort has been providing conditions for decades for holding all levels of ski competitions, including the most famous and prestigious FIS race of the World Ski Cup, The Snow Queen Trophy.
The second part of the school winter holidays has begun, the temperatures are still low enough for a ski adventure. The Red and White Downhills are open. The ski season for citizens opened on January 15, and will last as long as the temperatures are low. Through our webcam you have the opportunity to watch skiers on the Red Downhill live. Check the weather conditions, the crowds and decide whether to go to the spot or observe everything from the warmth of your home.
