Valun is small (only 70th habitants) and typical fishing village located in the southern part of Valun Bay on the island of Cres, between two beautiful pebble beaches south of the town of Cres.
It was created as a port of the old settlement of Bućev, whose remains were found near the church of St. Mark where the Valun plate from the 11th century was found. This exceptional document, extremely important for the history and culture of Croats in the region, dates from the IX. Century can be admired today on the wall of the Parochial Church of St. Mary. Copies of other similar inscriptions are being kept in the lapidarium outside the "Juna" tavern .
Valun beach is regularly on all world lists of the most beautiful Mediterranean beaches.
Accommodation is easy to find, either in private apartments or in the small, tidy camp-site, especially suited for all of those that like to spend their freee-time in close proximity to nature. There is the largest and most beautiful beach Zdovica and it is her photos that adorn the world's travel magazines.
Valun is wellknown for its gastronomic specialities, especilally shellfish and other seafood, prepared with expertise and great care, using only traditional recipes.
We recommend a walk along the promenade from the place and enjoy the gorgeous beauty of the island coast.
