Postira

On the north coast of the island Brač, there is a small, touristic and fishing place with beautiful pebbly and sandy coves.

Due to its favorable position, Postira has become a port, and thanks to the fertile country, guests who visit this place will enjoy quality homemade food and wine.

The name derives from the Latin word "pastura" which means pasture. Postira has a lot of cultural and historical monuments. Numerous sites testify to the stormy past of this location. It is certainly worth visiting the Lazanić citadel, the locality of Mirje, the remains of the Roman complex, the church of St. Ivan the Baptist, the remains of the early-Christian one-nave church. Also, the remains of the ancient dock have hidden in the sea.

What is particularly beautiful in this place are the attractive pebbly and sandy beaches, and numerous coves. The most popular and beautiful are the pebbled coves Mala Lozna, Zastivanje and Rat and the sandy coves Lovrećina and Prvlja.

All those who prefer active holidays will enjoy football, handball, tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, swimming, hiking, diving, other water sports and many other activities.

In Postira you will definitely not be hungry. You have the opportunity to eat really good in various restaurants, among which is particularly worth mentioning the "Lipa", "Lovrečina" and "Brazza" restaurants where you can enjoy the delicacies and specialties of this island.

As is customary in almost every Dalmatian place, Postira also has many events and festivals during the summer. The authentic image of the rural festivals presents the traditional cultural and entertaining event "Summer of Postira".

On July 16th people from Postira celebrate the Day of the City on Feast of Our Lady of the Carmel, so there are organized "folk cheerfulness" and the sailing race "Regatta ol Postirske fjere" where participate about 30-40 sailboats.

At the beginning of August, „Postira Seaside Film Festival“ is traditionally held in place.

Once upon a time, Postira was only fishing place, but today it can boast as a top touristic destination where you will undoubtedly rest and refresh your body and soul.
