On the 27th of September every year, the world celebrates the World Tourism Day by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This date was chosen according to the day the UNWTO Statute was adopted in 1970, which is a turning point in the history of tourism in the world. It raises awareness of the social, cultural, political and economic value of tourism and the contribution that the sector can make to achieving the goals of sustainable development. The time of World Tourism Day is particularly auspicious in that it comes at the end of the high season in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of the season in the southern.
World Tourism Day is celebrated on 27 September each year to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. It is also to feature and recognise the commitment the tourism industry can make in achieving these objectives. Raising awareness of the importance of tourism and its impacts worldwide. By UNWTO decision, each year, World Tourism Day is organized in a different host country.
“Tourism for Inclusive Growth ” is the theme of World Tourism Day 2021. This year’s official celebration will be hosted by Ivory Coast, which will celebrate tourism’s ability to drive inclusive development and its role in creating opportunities for millions of people around the world.
Croatia as previous years will join other nations around the world in marking this special day with different activities.
