Samobor Day

The day of Samobor celebrates the day when King Bela IV. on 1242. donated to Samobor the Charter of the Free Royal Market, and is officially celebrated on the third Saturday in October. So this Saturday, Samobor celebrates it’s 776th birthday. As it often happens with celebrations, the celebration has stretched a bit, so the Samobor Days last from October 13th to 21st.

The first day of the birthday celebration will be opened on October 13 by the Split rapper and music producer Vojko Vrućina.

The whole week is rich in sports, culture and entertainment and the central celebration is held on Saturday, October 20th. At the very beginning of the day, you will be awakened by the oldest city music in Croatia, followed by giving honor to the defenders and for the first time in Samobor, the parade of the historic troops of the Croatian Army. For the first time in their career, the group Jinx will perform on Saturday, October 20th at King Tomislav Square. The concert starts at 21:00 and after the concert visitors will enjoy the traditional fireworks.

Samobor is also known as a gastronomic destination, so all visitors will enjoy the 9th Festival of slow cooking cookout - autochthonous Samobor gastronomic delicacy, tasting of wine and mushroom pots and recipes from ancient times.

The main goal of this gastro program, which is an indispensable part of the celebration of the Samobor Day, is to preserve the tradition of preparing dishes that represents the gastronomic tourist attraction of Samobor and the return of Samobor slow cooking cookout to the menus of restaurants.
