In 1984. Karlovac's Brewery with the organizational help of town Karlovac, launched the annual celebration of Beer festival, which was held at the City Square in the center of Zvijezda, today's Ban Josip Jelačić Square. The celebration would then begin with the procession that moved from the Karlovac brewery, from the direction of Dubovac, and would end on the already mentioned central city square, while the opening would mark the release of beer that would flow from the central city fountain.
The last weekend of August traditionally belongs to the Karlovac Beer Days. From August 28 to September 1, Karlovac becomes the center of the beer world thanks to the longest-running beer event in Croatia – the Beer Days, which are being held for the 39th time this year. Five days of concerts, a rich beer and gastronomic offer, entertainment and a unique atmosphere that has attracted tens of thousands of visitors from all over Croatia and abroad for almost four decades will once again confirm why the end of summer always leads to Karlovac.
This year's edition is taking place in the heart of the city, in the historic Zvijezda, where visitors will be greeted by two festival stages. The first day of the festival brings a grand opening, after which the audience will enjoy a concert by Severina. The gastro stage on the opening night will be taken over by another music star – Minea, which begins five days filled with top-notch music, beer, gastronomy and a variety of festival content. On the main stage, the audience can expect numerous concerts by famous music stars, including Petar Grašo, Hiljson, Baks, Grupa Jonathan, Indira, Klapa Šufit.
Along the Karlovac promenade and in the Gastro Corner, visitors can expect top-notch specialties and flavors that celebrate tradition and contemporary gastronomy - from modern street food interpretations to traditional specialties.
Beer lovers will once again be able to enjoy the World of Beer, a special festival zone dedicated to beer culture. There, they will be greeted by a rich selection of domestic and foreign beer brands, the opportunity to get to know different styles of beer, new flavors, brands that are available on the Croatian market exclusively only in the World of Beer, and interesting beer stories. Beer Days is a place where beer is not only experienced as a drink, but also as part of the identity of a city whose brewing tradition has lasted for more than 170 years.
