A view of the sanctuary of the Mother of God of Bistrica, the most famous and most visited sanctuary in Croatia, located in the place of same name, about forty kilometers from Zagreb, in the northern part of Medvednica. Just as the Italians worship Loreto, French Lourdes, and the Portuguese Fatima, so Croatians, worhip the Mother of God of Bistrica.
For several hundred years, Marija Bistrica is a favorite destination for people from all over the world who are coming here to find their own peace.
The statue of the Mother of God with the Child in the arms is the most valuable sanctity of our country and about several million pilgrims have been praying in front of it. In the sanctuary you can see many sacral items such as chalices, flags, pastoral, censers, things from the Baroque era and visit the library.
The sanctuary of the Mother of God of Bistrica opens its doors in early spring, and closes in late autumn.
