Beautiful panoramic view of the shipyard in Kraljevica and the castle Nova Kraljevica - Frankopan.
The shipyard in Kraljevica is the oldest shipyard in the eastern part of the Adriatic, whose tradition dates back to 1729 and is considered one of the world's oldest shipyards. In 2012, the Kraljevica shipyard went bankrupt and was taken over by a private company that continued the long tradition of shipbuilding in Kraljevica. Many large military and merchant sailing ships were built in it, and the construction of the first steamships began in the first half of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, steel ships began to be built, so to this day many valuable ships of various purposes have been built.
At the moment, Tito's ship Galeb is renovating there, a protected cultural asset recognized by the European Commission and providing money from the EU fund for its restoration. Completion of work on the reconstruction of the ship in the shipyard in Kraljevica is expected in the middle of next year, and the arrangement of the museum exhibition by the end of the year. It will be the first ship - a museum in Croatia that will be located in the port of Rijeka.
Nova Kraljevica Castle is also called the New Town of the Zrinski. The castle was built in the middle of the 17th century for Count Petar Zrinski, who owned it for about twenty years, and it served as a suburban residential residence of the Zrinski. Two medieval castles with a church that are the legacy of Croatian noble families Zrinski and Frankopan are a place for cultural and entertainment events in summer, and together with the surrounding area are a famous tourist destination for those who want to relax, have fun and enjoy the cultural offer. After many war destructions and inappropriate contents, today it is being restored as a multifunctional cultural center.
